COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BAKERY ISLAND MERCHANDISER
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
1. Intended use. This commercial item description covers an island merchandiser that displays bakery products for sale.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
2.1 Design and construction. The bakery island merchandiser shall consist of a display deck, base, two uprights for securing the shelves, and three tiers of heavy gauge, wire mesh shelves on each side of the island. The deck shall be mounted atop a recessed base and the shelves shall be adjustable. The deck and base shall be constructed of 3/4 to 1-inch thick particle board and the surface of the deck shall be laminated white and the base shall be laminated black. The uprights shall be constructed of particle board, steel, or aluminum. The uprights shall be mounted in the middle of the deck either to the outer sides or atop of the outer edges. The uprights shall be connected at the top by a cross piece for stability. The uprights shall be slotted down the middle and shall have perforations spaced 1 inch apart on the inside edges of the uprights for securing and adjusting the shelves. The shelves shall be brass or chrome plated and shall be the full length of the deck.
2.2 Dimensions. The display deck shall be 9 inches high, with 22 inch deep base each side, 48 inches wide, and 48 inches long. The end uprights shall be 54 inches high and 9 inches wide. The depth of the shelves shall be 15 inches for the two upper tiers and 18 inches for the lower tier. The shelves on the upper tiers shall slant downwards and shall have a 2 to 3 inch high lip in the front. A tolerance of + 1 inch shall be applied to all dimensions. The bottom tier shelves shall be parallel to the deck.
3. QUALITY ASSURANCE.
3.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practice, and is the same product sold in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
