3.6 Performance. Each unit shall comply with the following performance tests. Failure of any costumer to comply with these requirements shall be in accordance with paragraph 4.6.
3.6.1 Stability test. Weights shall be suspended separately from the tip of the coat hook and hat hook. The weights shall not hang more than 15 inches below each hook. One of the top sets of hooks on one side of the costumer shall be loaded as follows: a, the hat hook shall be loaded with 20 pounds; (b), the coat hook shall be loaded with 50 pounds. Any tipping, instability, deformation, or loosening of the pole from the base of the costumer shall be reason for rejection.
3.6.2 Hook test. All four sets of hooks shall be loaded as specified in 3.6.1 for 1 hour. Any permanent set or loosening of the hooks from the pole shall be reason for rejection. In addition, any distortion of the pole loosening of the pole from the base shall be cause for rejection.
3.6.3 Level test. Place the costumer on a level surface plate. If a 1/16 inch thick feeler gauge can be easily inserted under the base at any point, the unit shall be rejected.
3.6.4 Chromium plating test. The plated samples shall be tested for corrosion with the 5 percent neutral salt spray at 95 degrees F in accordance with ASTM test method B-117. The test period shall not be less than 48 hours. After the specified exposure is completed, the specimen shall be visually examined to assure that the plating shows no evidence of peel, chip, uneven color, powder film, pits, or stain. Widely scattered spots of corrosion are permitted, however, none of these spots shall exceed 1/16 inch along the greatest dimension.
4. Quality Assurance Provisions.
4.1 Responsibility for inspections. The contractor shall be responsible for the performance of all inspection and testing in fulfillment of all requirements specified herein. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities approved by the Government as suitable for the performance of inspections and tests required by this CID. The Government reserves the right to perform any or all of the inspections and/or tests set forth in this CID, as deemed necessary to provide assurance of supply conformance to prescribed requirements.
4.2 First article requirements. The first article inspection shall be in accordance with the solicitation.
4.3 Quality conformance inspection. A sample of the finished product shall be selected in accordance with paragraph 4.6 of
