2.3 Finish. The exterior of the case shall be finished in baked synthetic enamel. The top, fronts, back and sides shall be green color No. 14187 of FED-STD-595.
2.4 Electrical characteristics. Unless otherwise specified
(see 5.2), type III cases shall be designed to operate on 120 volts, single
phase, 60 Hz power supply, and shall conform to Underwriters Laboratories
Standard 471.
2.5 Workmanship. The case shall be complete and clean. All sharp corners, edges, or projections on the interior or exterior of the cases shall be eliminated or protected to prevent injury during cleaning, loading or removing products from the cases.
3. Quality assurance. The contractor is responsible assuring that the items furnished to the Government conform to all requirements specified in referenced documents and herein. The contractor shall furnish a certificate of compliance certifying that the items being furnished comply with the stated requirements. The Government reserves the right to inspect the items to verify the certification and may reject any item or lot of items when it is determined that:
a. Any required component or design characteristic is missing or not as specified herein.
b. Any aspects of design, construction, assembly, function or finish is not in accordance with good commercial practice.
c. Packaging, packing and marking is not as specified.
4. PACKAGING
4.1 Packaging and packing. Packaging and packing shall be commercial or export as specified (see 5.1).
4.2 Commercial.
4.2.1 Commercial packaging. Each shall be packaged in accordance with commercial practice.
4.2.2 Commercial packing. Each case shall be packed in a manner to insure carrier acceptance and safe delivery at destination at the lowest transportation rate for such supplies. Containers shall comply with the National Motor Freight Classification or Uniform Freight Classification as applicable.
4.3 Export.
4.3.1 Export packaging. Each case shall be disassembled to the extent determined by the contractor to protect parts susceptible to damage during shipment and storage and for reduction of cubage. Parts removed shall be packaged in a weather-resistant fiberboard box constructed and closed in accordance with Method IV as specified in PPP-B-636. The case shall be cleaned, preserved and cushioned to afford protection against corrosion, deterioration and physical damage during shipment and storage.
